Happy Birthday our dear son! His 9th birthday was full of kicks and bumps with Chelsea FC themed food and cakes.
ついこの前、息子の8歳の誕生日をシャチがテーマのお菓子でお祝いしたと思っていたのに、もう9歳になってしまいました。
In this year, my son's passion for soccer has finally surpassed his longstanding love for animals. He has become deeply immersed in the world of soccer.
最近の息子は、ここ数年続いてた生き物愛を上回る熱量で、サッカーにはまっています。渡英時に住んでいた場所にホームスタジアムがあったことから、我が家はチェルシーFCを応援しています。息子のサッカーへの興味が大きくなるとともに、チェルシーファンレベルもどんどん上がっていきました。
For his 9-year-old's birthday celebration, he wanted to play soccer with guests, and the cake absolutely had to be Chelsea FC-themed! He requests like these, along with cake doodles (or rather, design sketches :D ).
9歳の誕生祝は皆でサッカーがしたい！ケーキは絶対チェルシーFCの！と大分前からケーキの落書き・・もといデザイン画とともにお願いされていました。そんなわけで、先日のパーティーから、チェルシーFCやフットボールをモチーフにしたバースデーテーブルをご紹介します。

The birthday cake predominantly features the team's blue color, and we've adorned it with my hand-iced cookies in the shape of the uniform and team badge, following my son's design sketch.
チェルシーFCがテーマの2段ケーキです。チームカラーのブルーを基調として、息子のデザイン画をもとにユニフォームやチームバッジのアイシングクッキーを飾っています。
大きな丸いケーキトッパーは、息子のデザイン画をもとにオーダーして作ってもらったアクリル製のものです。この文字部分だけ切り抜いた切り絵のようなデザインが希望だったので、クッキーで再現するとかなり割れやすいこともあり、今回は食べられないトッパーとなっております。
I faithfully crafted Chelsea FC cookies to decorate the cake, just as per my son's request; Chelsea uniforms, the team badge, and soccer balls.
ケーキを彩るチェルシーFCのアイシングクッキーは、息子のリクエストに忠実に作りました；チェルシーユニフォーム、チームバッジにサッカーボールです。
ユニフォームは元々は全部息子が好きな選手の背番号だったのですが、せっかく君の誕生日なんだから、ひとつは名前入りにしようよー！という母の懇願を受け入れてもらい、ケーキトップには息子の名前と年齢のユニフォームクッキーにさせてもらいました(笑)。
Originally, all the uniform numbers on the cookies were those of my son's favorite players. However, I made a motherly plea, "Let's have one with your name on it!"
そして、作る前から大変そうで、実際作ると案の定大変だった、チームバッジのクッキー。
The Chelsea FC team badge-shaped cookie did indeed look challenging even before making them, and as expected, it turned out to be quite a challenge.
このクッキー直径5㎝もない、小さなものなのです。食用ペイントで細部まで描き写すことも考えたのですが、真ん中のライオンを３Ｄにしたら絶対格好良いなと思い、小さな模様や影までは難しかったのですが、なるべく細かくパイピングしています。
This cookie is really small, less than 5 cm in diameter. While I considered using edible paint to capture all the intricate details, I thought it would look absolutely cool if I could make the central lion in 3D, so I focused on piping as finely as possible.
ケーキの構成は息子のリクエストで、上段がバニラシフォンケーキ 、下段が苺のショートケーキです。そう、去年と全く同じ組み合わせなのです（笑）。
The cake's composition was based on my son's request, with the top tier being vanilla chiffon cake and the bottom tier being Japanese strawberry cake.
変わらずこの二種類が一番好きなようです。本当は大きい方をシフォンにしたかったのですが、安定性を優先して上段にしました。
ドリップはつやつやの淡い水色、果物は英国産ブルーベリーをメインに、チェルシーのチームバッジのように少しだけ赤を取り入れたくて、赤い苺も飾りました。スポーツのあとに食べる事を考えて、ドリップもシャンティ（生クリーム）もあっさり目のレシピにしてあります。
The drip on the cake was a shiny pale aqua color, and for the fruits, I used British blueberries as the main element. I also adorned it with red strawberries to incorporate a touch of red like Chelsea FC's team badge
スナックスタジアムに盛り盛りとお菓子や果物を入れたので、ケーキはもう少し小さくても良かったかなとおもったのですが、完売御礼でした。おかわりをしてくれたゲストの方々に感謝です。
The birthday cake was sold out, and we're thankful to the guests who asked for seconds ;p

I adorned the small animal icing cookies with blue caps, symbolizing their support for Chelsea FC, and had them "hugging" soccer ball-shaped cookies.
今年の春ごろから夏にかけて、コロナ以来3年ぶりとなる一時帰国を果たしました（歓）！
今年のクッキーには、その際に購入したクッキー型を使っています。前から気になっていたクッキー型作家さんのものでしたので、使いたくてうずうずしていたのです。
動物たちのシルエットがとても愛らしく、目鼻を描かなくても何の動物かわかることに感心。全体的にアイシングしようか迷ったのですが、シンプルに目鼻をパイピングするだけで、とても可愛らしく仕上がりました。
チェルシーサポーターの証？であるブルーのキャップをかぶせて、サッカーボールクッキーをハグ♡させました。
サッカーボールのクッキー型も、同じ作家さんのものを使ってみました。黒い部分もクッキーで作ることができて、アイシングとはまた違った雰囲気になって良いですね。
今回のアイシングクッキーは、素焼きのクッキーの素朴な雰囲気をうまく活用できたかなと思います。
I was able to effectively utilize the charm of the plain baked cookies in this batch of icing cookies.

The most eye-catching element on the table is definitely the Snack Stadium, packed with a variety of delicious "fans"!
テーブルで一番存在感があるこちらは、多種多様な”美味しい”観客たちで満席のスナックスタジアム！これを最初に考えた人は天才ですね！！
このアイデアを見つけたのは、サッカーがテーマのパーティー案を調べているときでした。スタジアム自体をDIYするブログが何件もヒットしたのですが、アメフト観戦パーティー用に作っている方が多いようでした。
私もDIYしたい！と素敵な手作りスタジアムを眺めてワクワクしていたのですが、如何せん今回は時間がなかったのです。ラッキーなことに、よくパーティーグッズを購入するGinger Rayが作ってくれていたのです。ありがたくポチらせていただきました☆
お菓子な観客たちは、息子と一緒に選びました。ただ息子に完全に任せてしまうと全部グミになりそうだったので(笑)、かなり私が横から口をだして、野菜スティック＆フムス色々、などヘルシーオプションが取り入れられています。
The sweet "fans" were chosen together with my son. However, if I had let my son decide entirely, it seemed like everything would turn into gummies. I intervened quite a bit and incorporated healthy options like vegetable sticks & hummus, among others.

I dressed up the children's drinks with DIY drink wrappers, of course in Chelsea FC inspired design. The design of the juice pack wrappers is actually my favorite! I placed the birthday message as a pattern in the background behind the logo, creating a unique and stylish look.
こどもたち用のドリンクには、DIYのドリンクラッパーを巻いておめかし。
Just like last year, we had water bottles with caps personalized for each child with the Chelsea FC logo font so that they could have their own bottles while running around.
昨年同様に、ウォーターボトルはキャップ付きで走り回る子供たち一人ずつに持ってもらいました。チェルシーFCのロゴフォントでパーソナライズしています。
ジュースパックのデザインは、今回デザインしたグッズの中でも特にお気に入り！ロゴの背景にバースデーメッセージを模様のように配置しています。
そのまま書くよりも格好良くなったと思いますし、何より息子がとても気に入ってくれたので大満足でした。

This year's party bags contain an assortment of toys that are unique to Japan, which I purchased in advance during our visit to Japan this year.
今年のパーティーバッグは、日本への一次帰国時に購入しておいた、日本ならではのおもちゃのアソートです。
現地の方にはきっと珍しい紙風船や吹き戻し（ぴーぴー鳴るアレです！）、匂いつきのスライム、キラキラのスーパーボール等を選んでみました。息子は吹き戻しで壊れるまで遊んでいました・・・とってもうるさかったです(笑)。
I tried personalizing the thank-you tags with my son's name and age in the style of Chelsea FC's latest home jersey uniform!
サンキュータグは、チェルシーFCの最新ホームジャージを息子の名前と年齢でパーソナライズしてみました！このタグを目立たせたかったので、シンプルな紙袋にいれて、テーマカラーのリボン二種でラッピングしています。
An Extra Cut…
This year's entertainment was bubble football! Since some of our son’s friends don't usually play soccer, we decided to try a sport where they could wear large bubble balls and play soccer.
今年のエンターテイメントは、バブルフットボールでした。普段サッカーをプレイしないお友達もいるので、大きなバブルボールを身にまとってサッカーをするスポーツをやることに。
大きなシャボン玉のようなバブルのなかに入った子供たちは、ボヨヨーンとお互いにぶつかりあったり、飛ばされてさかさまになっちゃったりして大はしゃぎ。スポーツが好きじゃない子も、サッカーが大好きな子も、皆楽しめてとても良い選択でした。
子供たちが騒ぎながらはじいたり弾き飛ばされたりしている様子は面白おかしくて、観戦している大人たちも楽しいひと時でした。
The children inside those big bubble-like bubbles had a blast, bumping into each other, bouncing around, and even flipping upside down. They were having so much fun!
沢山弾き飛ばしあった後は、パーティールームで軽食、ピニャータ＆ケーキタイムといういつもの流れでした。
This year's piñata was a soccer ball shaped. It has become a tradition for my husband to make a sturdy piñata for our son's birthday, so all the kids were eagerly waiting for it :D They were hitting it with all their might.
However, it was made so sturdy that it wouldn't break easily. In the end, the kids had to dribble and pass it like a real soccer ball before it finally cracked open!
今年のピニャータはサッカーボール型です。息子のバースデーには、夫手作りの頑丈なピニャータが恒例となっているので、子供たちもみんな待ってました！とばかりに力いっぱい叩いていました。
ただ頑丈に作りすぎて、なかなか割れないのです。結局最後は、本当のサッカーボールのように子供たちがドリブルしたりパスしたりして、ようやく割れました。
Even though our son started a new school in this September, it's really heartwarming to hear that the most memorable part of the party for him was reuniting with his friends from his previous school…
今年の9月から別の学校へ進学した息子ですが、誕生会には前の学校の親友たちを招きました。パーティーで一番印象に残っているのはなに？と帰路の車内できくと、「みんなに会えたことが一番よかった！」と即答。
進学に伴い引っ越したこともあり忙しく、大勢でのパーティーは無理かなとあきらめかけたのですが、無理して開催してよかったです。てっきり「ピニャータを一番に割ったこと」とか、「バブルフットボールでハットトリックしたこと」などと返ってくると思っていたので、ちょっと感動してしまいました。
素敵な友達に恵まれて本当によかったね。またすぐに集まる機会がありますように。
